Plain English Summary
TrustNope is a free tool that checks public DNS records. We provide information to help you make decisions, but we can't guarantee 100% accuracy. Use our verdicts as one factor in your decision-making, not the only factor. If you're unsure about an email, always verify through official channels.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using TrustNope ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.
TrustNope is operated by QuestFeed Pty Ltd (ABN 58 632 013 855), trading as AuditROI, located in Queensland, Australia.
2. Description of Service
TrustNope is a free tool that checks email authentication records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) for domain names via public DNS lookups. The Service provides:
- A verdict (Trust, Caution, or Nope) based on the presence and configuration of email authentication records
- Plain-English explanations of what the records mean
- General recommendations for how to respond to emails from domains with different verdicts
3. Limitations and Disclaimers
Important
TrustNope provides risk signals, not guarantees. Our verdicts are based on publicly available DNS records and common email authentication standards.
The Service does NOT:
- Guarantee that any email is legitimate or illegitimate
- Read, access, or analyze actual email content
- Provide protection against all forms of email fraud (e.g., compromised accounts, lookalike domains)
- Replace professional security advice or common-sense verification
A "Trust" verdict means:
- The domain has proper email authentication configured
- It is harder (but not impossible) for someone to spoof emails from that domain
- You should still verify unusual or suspicious requests through official channels
A "Nope" verdict means:
- The domain lacks proper email authentication
- It is relatively easy for scammers to send fake emails appearing to be from that domain
- This does NOT mean all emails from that domain are fake - only that spoofing is possible
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use TrustNope only for lawful purposes. You may NOT:
- Use automated systems to make excessive queries that could impact service availability
- Attempt to reverse engineer, hack, or interfere with the Service
- Use the Service to facilitate fraud, harassment, or other illegal activities
- Misrepresent TrustNope verdicts as professional security certifications
5. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- The Service is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind
- We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of or reliance on the Service
- We are not responsible for actions you take or don't take based on TrustNope verdicts
- We are not liable for losses resulting from email fraud, even if you used TrustNope
If you suffer loss from email fraud, please contact local authorities and relevant financial institutions.
6. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We recommend checking this page periodically.
7. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.
